The seven souther states have now agreed upon a PROVISIONAL CONSTITUTION, at the same time electing JEFFERSON DAVIS president of the newly formed CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA.

TEXAS DECLARES SECESSION
February 7, 1861
The STATE of TEXAS has today joined the states of SOUTH CAROLINA, MISSISSIPPI, FLORIDA, ALABAMA, GEORGIA and LOUSIANA by declaring its secession from the United States.
