joining VIRGINA, ARKANSAS and TENNESSEE

April 21, 1861
Virgina has declared its secession from the United States, following the call for troops by President Lincoln.


FORT SUMTER SURRENDERD
April 20, 1861
THE CONFEDERATE FORCES have ATTACKED the federal army in fort Sumter on April 12th,
forcing the federal forces commanded by MAJOR ROBERT ANDERSON to surrender.
NO CASUALTIES were reported, except for an UNFORTUNATE private who was killed in an accident after the surrender of the fort.
